DMA 370: Lab 2

For my lab 2, at first it was difficult for me to figure out the scrolling aspects of the frames, but after awhile I was able to figure out that the other frames need to be inside the main frame in order for it to work successfully. My favorite thing I learned about the navigation was being able to make a “Back to Top” button which is very useful when you scroll down and want to scroll back to the top.

DMA 217: Lab 6

For my second app, I have thought a lot about how wearing a mask may not effect my communication as much, but is a problem with those who rely on watching mouth movements or expressions. This new normal of masks is definitely an added barrier for deaf and hard-of-hearing people and I wanted to design an app to help those who are struggling during this time. I am not really sure how I am going to create different elements of my app, but one of my ideas is making a translation page where the user can type what they are saying and somehow the other person can communicate back.

DMA 217: Project 1 – CRM Design

A popular CRM that I liked is called HubSpot. It is simple to complete basic tasks because it gives a tab for each item you would need to complete a task on the CRM. For example, they have contacts, conversations, and sales on the dashboard to easily get at any time. On both of the computer and phone dashboards for conversations, it only takes two clicks to get to messaging a client. It is very simplistic and it allows for fast working and communication. There is only one thing about the application that is difficult to use which is having too many tasks to do because it can be confusing what different tasks mean. There are eleven tasks you can choose to use and to me I would be very stressed out about what is the right task I would need to use. I would want them to break down the different tasks into bigger sections in order to simplify the application. For my application, I only made a couple tasks in order to keep it simple and easy to navigate through. From the HubSpot application, I will implement the dashboard section because it has different square sections that give the most important aspects of a CRM. Overall i really enjoyed doing this project because it has made me want to go further into social media productions and design applications.

DMA 212: Project 4 – Map Infographic

This was my favorite project. I decided to do my infographic on my hometown of Palmyra, New York. From this project, I learned how to create a map as well as making a banner. The easiest part of the project was outlining the Google Map with the pen tool and making sure it matched. What the most challenging part for me was figuring out what color scheme that fit well with my map. It took me a couple tries to find the right colors. What I also found challenging was where to place the difference aspects like my legend, compass and banner. It was difficult to place them where they did not overlap roads or creeks on my map. What I would change about my project would probably be adding more designs to the creeks and roads in order to make them stand out more. Overall, I enjoyed this project and being able to design an infographic for my town!
